With 2000 works of art covering the walls and floors of these beautiful galleries with prices ranging from £25 to £600,000 the exhibition is worth visiting if only for the wide variety of work on show, including those of Westbury clients Anita Klein and Biggs/Collings.
Apparently, the seven Royal Academy selectors choose the exhibits from 12,000 submissions so the show has a mix of well-known names – Tracey Emin, Anthony Caro, Edmund de Waal – as well as many new and relatively ‘unknown’ artists.
Writing in the FT, art correspondent Jackie Wullschlager admired the vibrancy of the exhib
ition but pointed out that whilst she follows the careers of scores of young professional artists aged under 40, not one of them submitted work to the exhibition and that she had never discovered a new artist for whom it had become a springboard to later success.
Nevertheless well worth a visit!!! You can get tickets here.
