Westbury Sports Day
In preparation for the 2012 Olympics, in July we held our Annual Sports and networking event, as in previous years, at the Brentham Tennis Club in Ealing.
With tennis, bowls, softball and table-tennis (newly included by popular demand) on offer – the choice of events gave everyone the opportunity to take part, once they had enjoyed a superb buffet lunch and a Pimms or two.
The tennis was as popular as ever, giving players the chance to hone everything they’d learned, watching Wimbledon, in our American Doubles Tennis Competition.
Meanwhile over at the pristine bowls field - Westbury Partner, Ratan Lele encouraged record numbers of players to learn how to master curved shots.
Table-tennis was very competitive, with some serious ’paddle’ skills on show. And the soft-ballers played on, regardless that the table tennis ‘whoops’ of wonderment whipped away most of their players.
Mid-afternoon there was a break for a scrumptious afternoon tea – and it was just as the strawberries and treats were being wheeled out
that the rain began. Sadly the weather cut short the knockout stages of the tennis competition. However, winners for the Bowls and Tennis and Softball had already been decided.
Congratulations to Alan Kleinman for winning the bowls and to Graham Davies as our first ever Table Tennis champion. And it was Stephen Einhorn and Vince Parker who triumphed in the Tennis.
Even with the rain cutting the event short everyone agreed, it was yet another enjoyable and fun event.
“Many thanks to you, your Partners and colleagues for a superb afternoon of enjoyment. I am fully aware of the time and effort that has to be devoted to such an Event and in particular to making it looks so seamless, which you were successful in achieving. The venue was perfect, your hospitality was very warm and the company was a sheer delight – a winning formula from every point of view. The rain came late and did absolutely nothing to spoil the fun.”

“I can’t tell you how much I enjoyed yesterday. It’s difficult to imagine how the Westbury Networking Day could have been any better. I feel I reinforced existing relationships and initiated others that I am sure will bear fruit. The event was perfectly organised: I was warmly welcomed on arrival. The warmth of the atmosphere made socialising and networking easy and enjoyable. The standard of catering could not have been better and was ideal for a finger lunch. The sporting events were well organised and so arranged to make it easy and fun to participate.
Meeting the partners and staff of Westbury, of whom I’d already met a number, reinforced the view I have of your practice: big enough to handle big clients but small enough to be very personal – you are such personable people. I believe very strongly that people do business with people. On that basis your firm is a winner!”
