Lord Taverners Charity Cricket
Now in its 14th year – the annual corporate charity cricket event, played indoor at Lords – proved, yet again, to be a great success.
Nine teams participated this year:
SJ Berwin, Sporting Index, EFG Private Bank, Barclays Capital, Catch 22 (our joint sponsors), Simmons and Simmons, Linklaters, Fishburns and Westbury.
The three teams competing in the final, which took place on Monday 30th November, were SJ Berwin, Barclays Capital and Sporting Index – up against the ‘all star’ Taverners’ team:
- Alex Tudor Surrey, Essex and now Surrey again,
99 not out for England and then dropped - Glen Jackson (Saracens Rugby)
- Ben Jones (actor)
- Colin Salmon (James Bond, Prime Suspect actor)
- Toby Tarrant (son of Chris, who came along
to watch) - Paul Gustard…Saracens Coach (ex player
including Barbarians), extraordinary Cricketer,
as well. - Mark Butler & Brett Emblin
It’s rare for a team to beat the ‘all stars’ – however, this year, Sporting Index, on excellent form, were victorious.
Westbury founded this event in 1996, and over the past 12 years it has raised tens of thousands for the Lord Taverners Charity.
