4th night of Corporate Charity Cricket - Teams for the 'Dec 1st Final' in place...
Monday 24th November
Another evening of quality cricket; plenty of fun; and some superb cricket .
Barclays Capital will be joined in the finals on Dec 1st by Sporting Index , who won all six matches, SJ Berwin, who won 5 and of course, The Taverners. Should be a great evening (all teams playing each other on a league basis) and all are welcome. Starts at 6 pm as usual.
Match 1 Pitch 1
Westbury (and its sister Company The Made Simple Group) v Fishburns
The accountants (that's us) beat the lawyers, thus proving which is the superior profession!
A total of 139 for 4, with Chris Leary scoring 45 and Saul Weitzman 32, proved too much for Fishburns who, despite a valiant 28 from captain Anthony Marsh, could only reach 48 for 5.
Match 1 Pitch 2
Linklaters v EFG
Oh Well! So some lawyers can win! Linklaters 101 for 5 with Brett 35, and Hunt 27 n.o. were too good for Bankers EFG (Yes, there are still some bankers out there!) who reached 76 all out.
Match 2 Pitch 1
EFG v Westbury
It seemed the accountants and joint sponsors of the competition were on a roll. Batting first, EFG hit a creditable 123 for 4 (Claridge 30) but Westbury managed 126 for the loss of just 3 wickets. They tried to humour an older player by saying that my diving stop of a definite 4 won the match, but it had more to do with another fine innings from Saul (27) and Chris (34)
Match 2 Pitch 2
Linklaters v Sporting Index
SI, the strongest team of the night were pretty ruthless (but of course, in a pleasant way as always). Keeping the lawyers down to 60 all out with some great all round bowling , they then achieved their target of 62 without loss, Streatfiels scoring 25 and Turcan 20.
Match 3 Pitch 1
Sporting Index v Westbury
Clash of the night's Titans? No. More like Men v Boys
Westbury thought they had done well keeping SI's score at 116 for 5 (Streatfield-again- 31). But some excellent bowling saw wickets tumble in the very first over as the accountants (now worrying about the Pre-Budget Report) slumped to 31 all out.
Match 3 Pitch 2
Linklaters v Fishburns
The jury was out from the start of this legal battle. Linklaters presented their case first-147 for 3, with Nick Alberts on 42 n.o. , despite a great diving c & b by Fishburns' Trevor. An opening 23 by Andy helped them to 52 all out.
Match 4 Pitch 1
The Final game of the evening , and the bowling performance to match- Sporting Index' Tom Palin taking 5 for 7 , including a hat-trick . EFG scored just 29 all out chasing SI's 146 for 5 (Harry,42).

Apologies if there are any errors above. No doubt you'll tell me.!!
Thanks to all who participated, commiserations to those who didn't qualify, special mention of Fishburns whose attitude is an example to all.
Taverners line-up for next Monday will be finalised and circulated shortly.
