2nd Night of Corporate Charity Cricket (CCC) - The state of play ...
2nd Night of CCC 10th Nov 2008
Another terrific evening, some great cricket, one tremendous close match and teams shuffling for position, seeking the top three places for the Grand Finale !
Match 1 Pitch 1
Westbury v Linklaters
Accountants v Solicitors ( now that’s what I call interesting ! )
Firstly, an outstanding Golden Duck from Nick Hayday coming in one wicket down ( what a way to make your debut at Lords ! the lengths some people will go to for that “ Dinner Party Story “ …….. ) and a top score of 38 by David Josselsohn ( apologies for the spelling, but it was your own team !) Somebody got 35 but team sheet got the wrong name , maybe A Hunt ? Linklaters 137 for 5 : Westbury responded by losing quick wickets and despite Chris’ 31 reached 64 for 6 …
Match 1 Pitch 2
BDO Stoy Hayward v SJBerwin
( another ) Accountants v Solicitors battle.
The match of the night. SJB reaching 98 for 5 ( Barri 27, Simon and Toby both 21 ) and BDO losing their last wicket off the final ball , requiring 2 to win to lose by 1 run despite great 34 from Ed. Great bowling and field placing in the last over from SJB ( apologies but no record of the name of the chap who bowled an excellent last over including taking the match winning catch off his last ball !
Match 2 Pitch 1
Linklaters 61 for 6 “ Boy can the Akram twins bowl “ losing to Barclays Capital 63 for 1 , believe it or not “ Boy can the Akram twins bat …………. “
Match 2 Pitch 2
Westbury v BDO
( surely a stalemate likely here … The battle of the Accounting giants )
Westbury put up a decent fight reaching 108 for 6 ( Chris L 42 and Saul 33 and a very spirited 21 by Jack ) ; but BDO comfortable winners with 111 for 1 ( Adam 21 , Murray 27 Dave 25 and Ed 19 ! )
Match 3 Pitch 1
Linklaters skittled out by Richies bowling for 71 for 5 ( Nick Hayday proving it was deliberate the first time by notching up a decent 19 ) and SJB reaching 72 for 1 mainly through Richies batting and Barrie Mendlehson on 25 ( retired )
Match 3 Pitch 2
Barclays Capital v BDO
Banking v Accountants
BC’s stunning performance reaching 100 for 6 ( Arf Akram rescuing them with a majestic 48 ) despite being 32 for 4 !
BDO having sensed victory lost quick wickets and finally succumbed to some supreme bowling to reach 35 for 6.
Match 4 Pitch 1
SJBerwins reaching a superb 123 for 6 ( Toby 34 ) and out went Keith Graham’s ( known as Colin Bland this evening, having missed the stumps from 6 inches by six inches ) Westbury for 38 for 6 !!

All to play for in the next round next week; indeed some crucial battles with Barclays Capital playing 4 games and SJ Berwin completing their 6 .
Exciting eh ? Top 8 still have genuine chance of making the finals, some maybe needing to win all three remaining games, but on the night anything can happen !!
Don’t forget in these times of gloom and doom if your company needs any temps call Catch 22 and if you need any financial advice call Westbury!
