Natural Magic – relax, rebalance or revitalise…naturally!
28 year old Nicola Elliott, former Associate Editor at Glamour magazine and 25 year old Oliver Mennell who had a carrer in Private Equity joined forces in March 2005, after 18 months of product development to launch Natural Magic, a new high end organic beauty brand.
Nicola: “The idea quite simply was to merge the very best high quality organic products with sophisticated, glamourous packaging – appealing to the eco-conscious woman who isn’t willing to compromise on quality or appearance.
The brand was launched with a range of organic treatment candles which, unlike 95% of candles available on the market, are made with vegetable waxes (as opposed to paraffin waxes – the industry standard) and pure essentials oils (rather than synthetics). This means that when they burn, essential oils are released into the air which when breathed in act as serious holistic treatments to relax, rebalance or revitalise you – “A home spa treatment within a jar” as InStyle called them. The candles are incredibly pure which means when they burn they don’t release any black smoke and they also burn perfectly evenly, unlike so many candles on the market.
Oiver: “We began by offering the candles via our website thinking it would be a small side-line project whilst we kept our full-time jobs. However, after one month Selfridges decided to stock them and the phone started ringing. After 6 months Nicola and I decided to quit our full-time jobs and dedicate ourselves to Natural Magic”.
Inside just 18 months, the candles are now stocked in excess of 150 outlets in the UK including department stores such as Selfridges and Fortnum & Mason, high end boutiques such as Coco Ribbon and beautiful spas such as Chewton Glenn and Seaham Hall. In Ireland the products are stocked in Brown Thomas, the chain of high end department stores. In May 2006 the company signed a deal to have the products distributed across Germany, Austria & Switzerland where they are available in high-end department stores. The company also recently signed a distributer agreement which will see the products sold across Australia. Since October, Natural Magic has also been available via American TV Shopping.
To build on the strengths of the brand – after almost 30 months of development, June 2007 will see the launch of a technologically advanced organic body care range.
